Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) received a $400,000 gift from Georgia Banking Company to provide scholarships to students studying exercise science and wellness.
“This is part of our own culture to support organizations that have a positive impact on the community,” said Bartow Morgan Jr., CEO of Georgia Banking Company, and a trustee for GGC. “In the case of Georgia Gwinnett College, the impact is generational.”

Georgia Gwinnett College announces Thursday remote classes and Friday closure
In light of the anticipated damaging winds and rain, and power outages due to Hurricane Helene, all Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) classes will be held online on Thursday, Sept 26. All GGC employees will be working remotely.
On Friday, Sept. 27, GGC will be closed. All classes, operations and events are cancelled. The GGC Preview Day, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 28, has been cancelled.

Georgia Gwinnett College ranked most ethnically diverse for 11th consecutive year
Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) has been ranked as the most ethnically diverse Southern regional college for 11 consecutive years according to the 2025 U.S. News & World Report (USN&WR) magazine college and university rankings, released today. The Southern region includes 12 states and Puerto Rico.
The same report indicated that GGC ranks #3 in ethnic diversity among regional colleges in the nation. GGC was ranked #4 last year.

The Economy and Presidential Election Cycles
Georgia Gwinnett College’s Dr. David Felsen, a lecturer in political science, said that several factors can influence the outcome of a presidential election.
One of the key factors is the state of the economy.
On Sept. 18, the Federal Reserve cut the federal funds interest rate by 0.5%. Felsen said that this is a dramatic reversal from the rate hikes of the past couple of years, and that the Federal Reserve’s economic outlook is uncertain.

It was an afternoon to recognize outstanding faculty and staff for their exceptional efforts during Georgia Gwinnett College’s (GGC) annual Fall Recognition Ceremony on Sept. 19. Dr. Philip Vinson, assistant professor of economics at Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC), says there are many factors that will influence the Federal Open Market Committee’s (FOMC) decision about interest rates. The next FOMC meeting is Sept. 17-18.
