Sophia Beers, '24, nursing, received a $1,000 Helene Fuld Health Trust Scholarship for Baccalaureate Nursing Students from the Foundation of the National Student Nurses Association.
GGC's Emily Mandujano, '24, named a nursing scholar
Emily Mandujano, '24, nursing, was named a Johnson & Johnson’s Our Race to Health Equity Diversity Scholar and received a $1,000 scholarship through the Foundation of the National Student Nurses Association.

Dr. Matthew K. Robison, associate provost for Student Affairs and Dean of Students, received ACPA-College Student Educators International’s 2023 Esther Lloyd Jones Award for professional service.
GGC's Dr. Latanya Hammonds-Odie named ASCB Fellow; receives service award
Dr. Latanya Hammonds-Odie, professor of biology, was named a Fellow of the American Society for Cell Biology (ASCB). As a director for the ASCB's Faculty Research Education Development program, she helps underrepresented postdoctoral scientists and faculty at minority-serving institutions by pairing them with more experienced scientists for mentorship on grant applications.
Hammonds-Odie also received a Service Award from the Vanderbilt School of Medicine Basic Sciences' “Juneteenth: A Freedom Celebration,” an event that recognized Black scholarship, leadership, mentorship, service and
GGC IT majors receive summer internship stipends
Information technology (IT) majors Ryan Gambrell, '22, Ahkeelah Lindo, '22, and Joseph Ongchangco, '22, received summer internship stipends to work on open source programming projects as part of the Google Summer of Code, a global, online program focused on bringing new contributors into open source software development. Drs. Anca Doloc-Mihu and Cengiz Gunay, both associate professors of IT, collaborated with the International Neuroinformatics Coordinating Facility to create these positions.
GGC's Information Technology Students of America organization receives national award
GGC's registered student organization, Information Technology Students of America, received a national 2022 Outstanding Membership Growth Special Recognition award from the United States Information Technology Collegiate Conference for maintaining exemplary organizational operating performance.
