GGC’s Dr. Amy Mungur selected as inaugural Fellow in a Library of Congress initiative

Dr. Amy Mungur, associate professor of curriculum and instruction and chair of the Secondary Education Department in the School of Education, has been selected as an inaugural Fellow in the Library of Congress Teaching with Primary Sources Transformative Teaching Initiative. This a significant honor and a great opportunity for professional development, specifically for methods instructors in teacher preparation programs.
GGC nursing students win distinctions at 2025 national conference
Georgia Gwinnett College’s (GGC) nursing majors made an impressive showing at the National Student Nursing Association’s (NSNA) 73rd Annual Convention, held recently in Seattle, Washington.
The GGC nursing program’s resolution, "Increase Awareness for Insurance Providers to Cover Prescribed ‘Play Therapy’ for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder," passed unanimously in the NSNA House of Delegates without debate. Students win research awards at Georgia Academy of Science Conference
Several Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) students won research awards at the 2025 Georgia Academy of Science Conference, held recently at Young Harris College in Young Harris, Georgia.
Dilyn Addo, a post-baccalaureate student, won the Best Paper Award for his paper, “Analyzing the evolution and frequency of chemistry terminology in education and online communities,” in the Science Education Section.

GGC students win national IT competition awards
Several information technology (IT) majors came home with national awards from the 2025 U.S. Information Technology Collegiate Conference (USITCC), held recently in Springfield, Missouri.

Dr. Mazin Tadros, associate professor of history, recently published his book, "The Jesuits in Syria: 1625-1683." He also recently presented a discussion about his book to students and faculty in the college's History and Geography Department.

GGC’s Catherine Moore co-publishes book

Catherine Moore, associate professor of art, and her colleague, Dr. Megan Hauser of Kennesaw State University, have published the book, “Political Illustration: The Visual Language of Propaganda, Censorship, and Dissent,” which explores political illustration, protest art and propaganda.

GGC’s Dr. Misael Romero-Reyes selected for Leadership Development Award

Dr. Misael Romero-Reyes, assistant professor of chemistry, was selected for a Leadership Development Award by the Younger Chemists Committee (YCC) of the American Chemical Society (ACS). This prestigious award included participation in the YCC Leadership Development Workshop, held in conjunction with the recent ACS Leadership Institute in Houston, Texas.
