The Georgia Gwinnett College Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) focuses on training and developing future leaders.

ROTC classes and field training exercises provide students with the tools and experience needed to succeed in any competitive environment. The curriculum covers management, ethics, tactics, law, field craft, military history and Army culture.

In addition to earning an undergraduate degree, those who commit to the entire GGC ROTC training program are eligible to receive financial assistance and a paid commission in the U.S. Army, Army National Guard or Army Reserves after they graduate.

ROTC and Academics

All students, regardless of their academic major or future plans, are welcome to take entry-level ROTC classes (1000 and 2000 level) while at GGC. Credits earned in these classes will count as physical education or general elective credits.

All ROTC candidates must complete some form of introductory training before proceeding to upper-level ROTC courses and an assignment as a commissioned officer.

Introductory-level training may be satisfied by meeting one of the following four requirements prior to the beginning of the student's junior year:

  • Successful completion of a three-year junior ROTC training program while in high school;
  • Successful completion of the introductory-level ROTC college courses offered at GGC;
  • Successful completion of a basic training, advanced individual training (AIT) or other Army-approved training program;
  • Successful completion of a four-week intensive ROTC training program.

Upper-level ROTC courses (3000 and 4000 level) are reserved for juniors and seniors who have committed to the full ROTC program, including a post-graduation commission. ROTC students who pursue a business degree in management may use their upper-level ROTC courses toward the satisfaction of their business degree requirements.
