Alvina Atkinson
Dr. Alvina J. Atkinson
Professor of Mathematics
Biography
Dr. Atkinson was drawn to teaching by the belief that all students can learn. It is her basic philosophy that she brings into the classroom daily. Of course, all students are different, so what is required to succeed will be different. It may take one student five minutes and another student five hours, but they can achieve the same result.
Atkinson joined the faculty at Georgia Gwinnett College in July of 2007. Her research interests include educational technology, at-risk students and the Algebra Project. She has taught mathematics at Auburn University and Fort Valley State University. She is a native of New Orleans.
