Jared White
Dr. Jared White
Assistant Professor of English
Biography
Dr. Jared White comes to GGC from the apple country of central Washington state. He was raised among apple orchards along the Columbia River, and he misses that landscape fiercely. Before setting down roots in Georgia, he lived and studied in Utah and Florida.
White writes and publishes poetry as often as he can. His poems are often informed by childhood memories, family stories and the landscapes in which he's lived. Among his favorite poets are John Donne, George Herbert, Anthony Hecht, James Tate and Frank Stanford. He teaches and researches in the areas of Creative Writing, Composition, and Literature. He is currently researching how interviewing and writing about individuals who are older or suffering from a terminal illness often improves the quality of their remaining years.
When White isn't teaching or writing, he enjoys time with his family and friends. He enjoys music and wishes he had more talent for the guitar. He thinks he may have some skill in baking, but because he also loves eating the food he makes, nobody can confirm this.
