Biography
Dr. Katherine Pinzon joined the GGC faculty in 2011, after teaching for six years at University of Arkansas Fort Smith. While at GGC, she has taught everything from general education courses like quantitative reasoning, college algebra and calculus up to the the senior level capstone course for majors. Her teaching style incorporates active learning as often as possible to encourage students to engage fully with the material. More recently she has been involved in the development and implementation of low-cost materials for courses through Affordable Learning Georgia grants, along with the implementation of Peer Supplemental Instruction in mathematics.
As a teacher of mathematics, Pinzon is committed to changing student mindsets by focusing on a broad range of ideas, including study skills, growth mindset, motivation, self-efficacy and self-reflection.
