Biography
Mahriana Rofheart's teaching interests include world literature and postcolonial studies, African and African Diaspora literature and the arts, as well as new media and social computing. Her current research examines African and Afrodiasporic speculative and science fiction, as well as print and digital comics. She is the recipient of a 2019-2020 Fulbright U.S. Scholar grant to Dakar, Senegal for research on her project "Digital Popular Cultures in Contemporary Senegal." Rofheart's book, Shifting Perceptions of Migration in Senegalese Literature, Film, and Social Media (Lexington Books, 2014), received Honorable Mention in the first book award category from the African Literature Association in 2016.
