Marcus Ta’von Haynes
Lecturer of English
Biography
Marcus Haynes was born in Memphis, Tenn. and grew up in Greenville, Miss. From a young age, he was deeply invested in education, particularly the power of reading and writing. He is an instructor dedicated to collaborative learning and encouraging students to think critically. In addition to his instructional pursuits, he is also a creative writer and a scholar most interested in discussing the importance of children (especially children of color) developing a sense of identity from the texts they are exposed to. He is also an award winning presenter, a Ronald E. McNair scholar and a published author. He hopes to one day garner more interest in reading at a younger age and encourage more people of color to read and write.
