Marygeorge Llewellyn Whitney
Instructor of Mathematics
Biography
Mrs. MaryGeorge Whitney joined GGC in 2010 as an adjunct in mathematics fresh out of grad school where she served as the graduate assistant in the Mathematical Assistance Center (MAC) at Georgia State University.
Whitney obtained her master's degree in mathematics with computational science. While completing her degree, she worked on research in ill-posed problems where she worked with Tikhonov's regularization techniques and Morozov's discrepancy principle which allow ill-posed problems to be solved in a stable fashion. She later had a paper published on the topic in the International Journal of Pure and Applied Mathematics.
Whitney loves teaching and has taught and tutored many levels of math for more than 20 years in many parts of the United States and in Germany. She loves watching when her students "get it" and that is one of her favorite parts of teaching.
Along with teaching, Whitney also enjoys volunteering for several conventions in the Atlanta area, bead work, crocheting and reading.
