Biography

A native of North Carolina, Dr. Meredith Storms received her B.S. in chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke and her Ph.D. in pharmaceutical sciences from the University of Georgia. She has taught chemistry and served in various administrative roles since 2002.

With active learning and student engagement at heart, Storms enjoys an interactive classroom. She received an Outstanding Teaching Award for her involvement in designing online chemistry courses for the University of North Carolina System and her scholarship of teaching and learning using Pivot Interactives in the lab. For the award, one student nomination stated, "Having a professor that is personal and puts forth effort in trying to get to know who you are as a person, increases self-esteem, motivation, and a love for education."

For research, Storms has experience developing analytical methods to determine drugs in biological fluids and dosage form. Most of her work employs solid-phase extraction and HPLC. She values quality undergraduate research experiences, and over the past two decades, she has mentored numerous students who have successfully presented their work at various regional and national conferences.

In her free time, she enjoys sitting on a boat with her family as they have a friendly fishing competition.
