Biography

Dr. Sang Hyuck Park joined the GGC faculty in 2010. He earned B.S. and M.S. degrees from Seoul National University in South Korea and a Ph.D. from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Park’s teaching experience spans general, GOB, organic and environmental chemistry, as well as physical science courses. His research interests include drinking water treatment technology, the analysis of emerging drinking and wastewater contaminants, biofuel production, and environmental justice.

Before joining GGC, Park gained organizational experience as a commissioned officer in the ROK Air Force and as an environmental engineer with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. He has also held several leadership roles in professional organizations, including KSEA, where he contributed to strengthening connections within the local community and the broader global scientific ecosystem.

As chair of the Chemistry Department, Park upholds the department’s proud tradition of providing exceptional education and mentorship to students while fostering a culture of innovation and growth. By prioritizing collaboration and maintaining a shared vision within the GGC community, he is dedicated to enhancing the department’s impact both locally and nationally.
