Biography
Mr. Lumley wants to inspire students to get personally involved in the study of history. He believes that the discipline provides the best available tools for understanding current political, social, and economic realities, and he encourages students to draw their own connections between the actors, actions, and ideologies of the past and present. To this end, Mr. Lumley promotes active learning by emphasizing the analysis of primary documents, and he strives to maintain an open, interactive classroom environment. He also believes that, by studying history, students can enhance the reading, writing, and critical thinking skills that will benefit them in their college careers and in their lives.
