Fall 2024 graduates celebrate milestone commencement in new Convocation Center
More than 420 fall 2024 graduates received their nexus and bachelor’s degrees in Georgia Gwinnett College’s (GGC) new Convocation Center on campus Saturday, Dec. 14, during two family-filled ceremonies.
Dr. Jann L. Joseph, GGC president, said in her remarks to the excited class and crowd, “We are overjoyed to celebrate this extraordinary group of students completing their undergraduate journey right here, where it all began – on this very campus. Every one of you in this room is now part of a truly historic moment at GGC.”
Sharing an inspirational and stirring commencement keynote address about her own surprising career journey, Nicole Love Hendrickson, chairwoman of the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners, offered encouragement and a little wisdom to the class saying, “You don’t always know where the road will lead, but the experiences you gather along the way – your successes, your challenges, your triumphs – prepare you in ways you can’t imagine.”
Two graduating seniors, Shari Jackson and Mikiah Miller, represented the class as student speakers at the 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. ceremonies, respectively. Both graduated with honors. Jackson also recently shared her life’s story with National Public Radio’s WABE’s “A Closer Look with Rose Scott” show.
