Did you know that nearly two-thirds of people are visual learners? That’s one of the reasons why having a professional headshot is a professional must.

“When we put a face to a name, it helps us connect,” said Jessie McGinty, Human Resources engagement lead. “They may not always remember your name, but they will remember your face.”

Having a professional headshot is useful for your organization’s directory, Teams or Zoom meetings, and those occasions when you’re a presenter or speaker.

“Professional headshots are a way to brand yourself, and that’s helpful when networking,” McGinty added. “That includes sites like LinkedIn.”

She added that professionals should keep their headshots updated.

“Don’t use headshots taken 10 years ago,” she said. “People should see you as you are now.”

To help with that, all GGC faculty and staff members can get a free, professional headshot on campus. Drop in any time from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday or Wednesday, Jan. 21-22 in the Grizzly Studio, which is in Building I, Room1132.

Helpful hints for your professional headshot:

  • Smile!
  • Wear clothes that make you feel good and confident about yourself.
  • Choose neutral colors (add a pop of color for additional visual interest).
  • Don’t wear clothes with large or distracting patterns.
