ITEC faculty and students received travel scholarships to present at conference

An information technology (IT) faculty and student team including Drs. Anca Doloc-Mihu, Cengiz Gunay and Cindy Robertson, all associate professors of IT, and IT majors Carina George, ’23, and Julissa Valdez-Ramos, ’26, received National Science Foundation-supported travel scholarships from the STARS Computing Corps to attend the 2024 CMD-IT/ACM Richard Tapia Celebration of Diversity in Computing Conference and STARS Celebration in San Diego, California.

Representing the School of Science and Technology’s Technology Ambassadors Program (TAP), the students presented their TAP research projects at the STARS Celebration posters session. The STARS Celebration is devoted to engaging the next generation of computing leaders to take action for broadening participation in computing through education, mentorship and creating a diverse and inclusive community.
