Dr. Negar Orangi-Fard, assistant professor of mathematics, published the peer-reviewed paper, “Predictive Model for ICU Readmission Based on Discharge Summaries Using Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing,” in the in the "MDPI Journal of Informatics." In this work, she created a predictive model for 30-day readmission risk of ICU patients. ICU readmission risk prediction may help physicians re-evaluate patient physical condition before discharge and avoid preventable readmission and death.
