Assessment training sessions in April

Academic Assessment and Accreditation will host its “Innovative Practices in Assessmentseries April 16-18, from 12:30-1:30 p.m. each day. Moderated by Dr. Rebecca Cooper, director of Academic Assessment, the series spotlights several innovative uses of Student Learning & Licensure (SL&L), the campus’s ePortfolio platform.

Each day will feature different speakers from across Georgia Gwinnett College’s academic programs who will share what they have done, or are doing, to use SL&L to support assessment and teaching and learning.

Wednesday, April 16

Dr. Michael Gunther, associate professor of history and History and Geography Department interim chair, will show what the history program has done to embed multirater assessment practices throughout its program assessment model. Dr. Cathy Dyches, professor of nursing, will showcase the nursing program’s array of offsite/clinical and classroom-based assessment tools.

Thursday, April 17

Daniel Butler, lecturer of English, will walk through what the English program is doing with developmental ePortfolios throughout their curriculum, and Dr. Rebecca Cooper will showcase a variety of tools and practices used throughout the School of Education.

Friday, April 18

Dr. Tom Lilly, professor of English and assistant provost for Academic Assessment and Accreditation, will talk about his use of a reflection portfolio in first semester composition, Dr. Rebecca Cooper will demonstrate how to use several SL&L workflows to shape activities in your classes, and Dr. Priya Boindala, associate professor of mathematics, will recount Math’s experiment using SL&L rubrics to conduct large-scale Core IMPACTS math course assessment.

All faculty and staff are welcome to attend these online meetings. Email Dr. Rebecca Cooper with the training topic and date you will attend, and Helen McDaniel, assessment and accreditation specialist, will forward you the Teams invitation.
