Shalaya Morissette, '12
Business Administration
“I know business, and I happen to be a black woman, so that gives me a certain credibility and puts me in a unique position to understand what’s happening in the world,” said Morissette, who enjoys talking with minority business owners and educating them about Department of Energy opportunities.
“What I do doesn’t just help businesses thrive. Business owners have children and are more likely to hire other minorities,” she said. “Looking through that lens, I wake up every day and say, ‘I’m impacting people’s lives in a very positive way, and I don’t need a billion dollars tomorrow to do it.’”
