For the eighth straight year, Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) has been ranked as the most ethnically diverse Southern regional college, according to the 2022 U.S. News & World Report (USN&WR) magazine college and university rankings, released today.

The ranking was based on data reported from the college’s fall 2020 semester. With 11,627 students, the ethnic composition of GGC’s student body was 33% black/African American, 27% white, 25% Hispanic, 11% Asian, 4% multi-ethnic and less than one percent each for Native American, Pacific Islander and unknown. While 75% of students came from Gwinnett County in the fall of 2020, others came from 32 U.S. states and 120 countries.

In addition to being recognized for its diversity, GGC also ranked as the third most innovative school among regional colleges in the South, moving up one place from last year. USN&WR ranks schools in this category for innovative approaches to curriculum, faculty, students, campus life, technology or facilities.

GGC ranked #3 in the Top 20 Public Schools category and gained recognition as a Top Performer in Social Mobility among Southern regional colleges.

While GGC ranked at #58 among best public and private regional colleges in the 12-state southern region, it ranked #1 in Georgia among University System of Georgia-participating public schools. 

This year, USN&WR added a new ranking for programs offering a bachelor’s degree in nursing. GGC’s relatively young nursing program placed at #12 of 23 ranked Georgia programs.
