Georgia Gwinnett College says goodbye to K-9 Officer Buddy

Yesterday, Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) celebrated the life and honored the service of K-9 Officer Buddy, 12, who recently passed away due to kidney failure.
K-9 Officer Buddy, a Labrador retriever, was laid to rest with full police honors, beginning with a procession from the Building 3000 Lot on the GGC campus and ending with a memorial service at the Pet Angel Memorial Center in Bethlehem, Georgia.
Buddy joined GGC’s Police Department in 2015 and quickly became an integral part of the team. He completed his basic explosives detection course and then earned his Georgia Emergency Management Certification in explosives detection.
“He was more than a K-9 officer. He was a guardian, a loyal partner and a beloved member of our GGC family,” said Terrance Schneider, associate vice president of Facilities and chief of Police. “Buddy served the GGC community with unwavering dedication, always ready to greet visitors with his favorite toy and a wagging tail.”
