Dr. Jann Joseph and members of the cabinet joined City of Lawrenceville and Gwinnett County officials Thursday, June 24, at a ribbon cutting for the College Corridor.

The city’s $30 million project creates a 2.2-mile mobility connection between downtown Lawrenceville and Georgia Gwinnett College. It includes a new roadway, 4-foot bike lane, 10-foot multiuse sidewalk and future development opportunities.

Joseph described the corridor is a “welcomed invitation” for the GGC community to visit and enjoy a true downtown experience.

“We at GGC are especially excited about this new roadway and its direct connection from our campus to downtown Lawrenceville,” she said. “I’m positive our employees and students will appreciate the convenience and exploration of our downtown area.”

The president noted that Lawrenceville’s strategic plan around its infrastructure will most certainly enhance economic development and the overall culture and lifestyle of the downtown area, attracting new businesses, office and residential space and jobs. The roadway also will enhance access to the college, connecting residents to GGC’s campus, athletic events and much more.

Lawrenceville City Manager Chuck Warbington echoed that sentiment, noting that the corridor is not just a road. “It’s a strategic investment into our community,” he said.
