Severe Winter Weather Update
In anticipation of the inclement weather forecast that begins early Friday morning, the college will shift to a virtual mode on Friday, Jan. 10.
For Faculty
Faculty should prepare to transition Friday and Saturday classes to an online format, as appropriate. Each faculty member should determine the most effective virtual format (synchronous, asynchronous, or other) for their courses. Lab, studio, and other specially scheduled classes may require different arrangements. Faculty should communicate plans and expectations to students via email, MyCourses (Brightspace D2L), or other communication methods. Flexibility will be critical for these contingency plans, especially given potential weather-related impacts, such as power outages.
For All Students
Students with Friday and/or Saturday classes should regularly check their email, MyCourses (Brightspace D2L), and other communication methods for updates and instructions from their instructors.
For Staff
Staff members should prepare to work virtually on Friday, following the normal 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. schedule. Essential personnel will receive specific reporting instructions from their supervisors as needed.
For Residential Students
Due to the potential for power outages on campus, resident students are encouraged to return home if possible. Students who remain on campus should note that Grizzly Dining will operate the dining hall during brunch hours. Menu options or operating hours may change due to limited staff availability and storm timing. Late-night dining options will be canceled. Any additional changes to the dining schedule will be communicated via email.
Campus Access
Apart from the Residence Halls and Student Center, all campus facilities will be closed, and buildings will be locked. Public Safety will not be available to unlock facilities on Friday or until conditions allow. Students, faculty, and staff should retrieve any necessary items from campus before leaving on Thursday.
Stay Informed
The campus community should monitor GGC’s communication channels for updates. Please ensure you have signed up for Rave alerts.
Safety Reminder
Safety remains our top priority. The college encourages everyone to take all necessary precautions to ensure their well-being during this time.
