Student interest in nonprofit careers enhanced thanks to internship program

Jennah Baksh wasn’t thinking about nonprofit work as a career after graduation. But a Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) program that connects student interns with area nonprofits might change her mind.

Georgia Gwinnett College students serve the community during Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday

The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday is a day of rest for some. But for more than 125 Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) students, it was a day of service as they participated in projects on campus.

The day started with a rousing performance by the Phi XI Chapter of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Members said the performance was a way to honor King, who himself was a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.

Georgia Gwinnett College class seeks volunteers for free physical assessments and exercise program

The Department of Exercise Science and Physical Education at Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) seeks volunteers for participation in a 10-week exercise program. The program is designed to help exercise science students sharpen their hands-on skills, while gaining experience in a practical fitness setting.

Volunteers will have a pre-training and post-training fitness assessment performed, which will include:

  • Blood pressure
  • Body composition
  • Cardiovascular fitness
  • Muscular strength
  • Balan
