Scholarships and Grants
GGC Scholarships
GGC Scholarships are GGC Foundation funded scholarships awarded, in part, on the basis of academic achievement and financial need. Review individual scholarships for additional eligibility criteria. Complete an appropriate year’s FAFSA and the GGC Scholarship application (login required) to determine eligibility (after Grizzly Orientation).
GGC Top Honors Scholarship
Who: new first-year students accepted to GGC prior to Dec. 1 (awarded fall semester only)
Value: $1,000/year
Application: No application required
Limited number of scholarships are awarded by committee prior to Dec. 1.
Minimum Qualifications
- Accepted to GGC by Dec. 1
- Minimum of 3.5 high school core GPA
- Admitted into Honors Program
- Priority given to early applicants
Renewal
- Up to 4 years (automatic for those who meet requirements)
- Maintained cumulative 3.5 GGC GPA
- Continuous full-time enrollment with successful completion of a minimum of 24 credit hours per academic year (excluding summer semester)
- Continuous full-time enrollment; registered for minimum 12 credit hours per semester (excluding summer semester)
- Participation in the Honors Program
- Renewal evaluation after each spring semester (up to 4 years from initial award)
- Attendance at annual scholarship recognition event
GGC Top Honors Transfer Scholarship
Who: New transfer students accepted to GGC prior to Dec. 1 (awarded fall semester only)
Value: $1,000/year
Application: No application required
Limited number of scholarships are awarded by committee prior to Dec. 1.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of 3.5 transfer GPA
- Minimum 30 / maximum 60 college transfer credits
- Accepted to GGC by Dec. 1 for priority consideration
- Admitted into Honors Program
- Priority given to early applicants
Renewal
- Up to 3 years (automatic for those who meet requirements)
- Maintained cumulative 3.5 GGC GPA
- Continuous full-time enrollment with successful completion of a minimum of 24 credit hours per academic year (excluding summer semester)
- Continuous full-time enrollment; registered for minimum 12 credit hours per semester (excluding summer semester)
- Participation in the Honors Program
- Renewal evaluation after each spring semester (up to 3 years from initial award)
- Attendance at annual scholarship recognition event
Presidential Academic Out-of-State Award
Who: New first-year out-of-state students
Value: In-state tuition rate
Application: No application required
Limited number of scholarships are awarded at time of acceptance to GGC.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of 3.0 core high school or transfer GPA
- Transfer GPA of 3.0 based on all attempted college credit
- Admitted to GGC as out-of-state student
- Completed admission application by May 1 (for Fall) or Dec. 1 (for Spring)
- Provided proof of lawful presence as outlined by the University System of Georgia
- Permanent address outside of the state of Georgia
- Maximum one waiver awarded per student
- Priority given to early applicants
Renewal
- Up to 4 years (automatic for those who meet requirements)
- Maintained cumulative 3.0 GGC GPA
- Continuous full-time enrollment with successful completion of a minimum of 24 credit hours per academic year (excluding summer semester)
- Renewal evaluation after each spring semester (up to 4 years from initial award)
GGC Aspirational Grant
Who: New first-year students
Value: $1,000 / year
Application: No application required
Limited number of scholarships are awarded after successful completion of 15 credits at GGC with a 3.0 GPA.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of 3.0 core high school GPA
- Admitted to GGC
- Priority given to early applicants
Renewal
- Up to 3.5 years (automatic for those who meet requirements)
- Maintained cumulative 3.25 GGC GPA
- Continuous full-time enrollment with successful completion of a minimum of 24 credit hours per academic year (excluding summer semester)
- Renewal evaluation after each spring semester (up to 4 years from initial award)
- Attendance at annual scholarship recognition event
Merit-based Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic achievement, extra-curricular activities, volunteer services and financial need. They are designed to reward, encourage and assist students pursuing academic excellence and leadership. Awarded scholarships do not need to be repaid, but may have specific criteria for you to remain eligible (i.e., grade point average, major, etc.). Complete the appropriate year’s FAFSA to determine your financial eligibility.
HOPE Scholarship and Zell Miller Scholarship
The HOPE Scholarship and Zell Miller Scholarship are merit-based scholarship programs with specific academic and grade point average eligibility requirements. The Georgia Student Finance Commission administers these programs.
Students must complete a current-year FAFSA or the Georgia Student Finance Commission Application (GSFAPPS) to apply for either scholarship. For additional details on HOPE and Zell Miller Scholarships, visit GAfutures.org to view program regulations and eligibility criteria.
Grants
Grants are awarded to students who demonstrate a financial need and do not have to be repaid. Complete the appropriate year’s FAFSA to determine your financial eligibility.
Federal Pell Grant
The Federal Pell Grant is a federally funded program that provides need-based grants to undergraduate students earning their first bachelor's degree. Review information about the Federal Pell Grant and complete an appropriate year’s FAFSA to determine your eligibility. Students receiving the Federal Pell Grant may also be eligible for other types of financial aid.
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
FSEOG is a federally funded program that provides need-based grants to undergraduate students earning their first bachelor's degree. Review information about FSEOG and complete an appropriate year’s FAFSA to determine your eligibility. Students receiving the FSEOG may also be eligible for other types of financial aid.
Steps to Apply for Scholarships and Grants
- Go to FAFSA on StudentAid.gov.
- Log in using your FAFSA ID.
- Begin and complete the current-year FAFSA.
- List GGC's Federal School Code of 041429, OR
- Complete a GSFAPPS at GAfutures.org to be considered for HOPE scholarship funds only.
